Recently, I, together with fellow fashion and beauty bloggers, was invited to an intimate launch of Dolce and Gabbana’s latest fragrance, Dolce. The lovely and delicate set-up and TWG’s luxurious ambiance were very much apt to Dolce & Gabbana’s newest scent.

It has been a while since Dolce and Gabbana released a new scent. Who can remember Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue?! Oh dear, it was so popular back in high school. That light and cool scent was like the signature fragrance of the girls back then. Now, D&G brings something new. Dolce, is inspired by Sicily, hometown of Domenico Dolce and Steffano Gabbana.

The Dolce Fragrance

“The nobility of the soul, the elegance of every day gestures, the joy of sharing from generation to generation, and the effortless perfection of a single white flower, This is the picture of Sicily that I carry within me, and the one captured in this delicate fragrance.”- Domenico Dolce

“Dolce is a contemporary fragrance inspired by a memory. The originality is not just in the way it was created, using traditional essences and other brand-new ingredients, but also because it is the translation into fragrance of a young new love that will, by virtue of its innocence, retain its youthful vitality.”- Stefano Gabbana

It is a rich, white floral fragrance, introduced by the freshness of the Neroli leaves and defined by the White Amaryllis, a rare and delicate South African flower used for the very first time in scent.

Top Notes: Neroli leaves, Papaya flowers
Heart Notes: White Amaryllis, White Daffodil, White Water Lily
Dry Down Notes: Cashmeran, Musky notes, Sandalwood

The first time I tried it on, I was trying to figure out what it smelled like. It’s a familiar scent, yet it’s something new. It’s floral, yet it smells young. I’m sure you get what I mean when I say floral scents are usually associated to a more mature age bracket. This one is different. It’s young, yet elegant. All these make the fragrance very mysterious.

The Dolce Packaging

The bottle itself looks very delicate and elegant. It’s similar to those vintage fragrance flacon- thick, clear glass with softly curved lines lending a contemporary design edge. The clear glass reveals sparkling glints of the vibrant green juice of the Neroli leaves.

The flower stopper pays tribute to sicilian customs, portraying the marzipan sculptures in traditional sicilian confectioners.

The soft-touch white box’s material is as refined and smooth as fine leather.

And the final and most personal touch is “Dolce” signed in a flourish of black script, a replica of Domenico Dolce’s father’s own signature.
