I miss the beach. I miss the battle scars. I miss being wiped out by the waves. I miss the struggle of paddling. I miss the adrenaline rush. I miss standing on a surf board. It’s been a while since I last surfed. The last time I went surfing was during my Bali trip.

All these memories were brought back to life when I attended the launch of O’Neill here in the Philippines. For those who are not so familiar with the brand, O’Neill was founded in 1952 by Jack O’Neill who has unstoppable passion for surfing. Today, O’Neill’s product line-up has grown to include surfing wetsuits, boardshorts, electronics, and other accessories.

Despite being open to change, Jack’s initial vision of producing functional and innovative board riding products continues to be at the core of everything that O’Neill does. As such, the brand is most known for its remarkable ability to translate function through an unparalleled style such as designs that bear tasteful and iconic design silhouettes as well as patterns and prints that are neither too loud nor boring – therefore reflecting O’Neill’s DNA that is undoubtedly built on performance and style.

In line with the brand’s global success, it’s high time that O’Neill receives a warm welcome here in the Philippines, through a grand launch attended by celebrities, its brand ambassadors, the media and everyone who knows what to look for in quality and high performance surf gear such as rashguards, boardshorts, wetsuits, and etc.

Held last August 6 at Tree House Tavern and Café in A-Venue, Makati, O’Neill’s grand launch also served as the local launching pad for its international campaign, “Unreasonable Expectations since 1952” which is also known as the “Unreasonable Campaign”.

As such, the brand was proud to present Team O’Neill Philippines, its local brand ambassadors, a group of young athletes, eager to make their mark in the world of surfing – JV Tanjangco, Andrea Tanjangco, Susan Larsson, Maria Lopez Yokohama, Gab Sarmiento, and “The Onslaught Racing Dragons”, who all personify what the brand is all about. Other members of the team include Jay-R Esquivel from La Union and Azor Laudes from Cebu.

O’Neill also announced its partnership with Aliyah Surf School in Baler as well as Pradera Wake Park in Pampanga – showing its active support for the local surfing and wake community.

Members of Team O’Neill Philippines talked about its many plans for future collaborations to keep the surfing culture alive and growing in the country, especially with more surfing destinations being discovered and developed in the past couple of years. Now, this definitely excites me!!!

And since September is coming soon, it means it’s surfing season once again here in the Philippines!!! Woohoo! Now, I can’t wait to gear up! Getting a new rashguard has been long overdue! Anyway, here are some of my picks from O’Neill.

I’m into caps these days so this definitely caught my attention.
