Aside from lipsticks and phone, a pair of earphones is also a staple inside my bag. Let’s just say, listening to music is part of my “me time”. Whenever I’m out and I need to wait in a coffee shop (which happens almost always), my music keeps me company. I also need my earphones whenever I blog since my music is my way to concentrate and keep my thoughts and ideas flowing. So basically, I need to have my earphones everyday, wherever I may be.

Recently, I was given Sudio Vasa, one of the brand’s premium in-ear earphones, to try it out. It came right in time since my pair of earphones gave up on me. As a result, I’ve been using OEM (original equipment manufacturer) earphones that came with my smartphone. Well, I’m quite sure a lot of you use OEM earphones too since it serves its purpose, anyway. As long as you can listen to your music, you think it sounds great! But do you know these OEM earphones generally have inferior quality?

Just to make it clear, I am not an audio junkie, but I do prefer quality sound. In fact, I can hear the subtle differences in sound quality in earphones or headphones. This explains my excitement when I received the Sudio Vasa earphones. For those who are not familiar with the brand, Sudio is from Sweden. Here’s a nice background about the brand:

The name Sudio comes from an incident when one of the founders spotted the musician Phil Collins in New York having problems with his headphones. With the frustration of not yet being able to offer any better alternative to Phil the only words he could out were: “trust me I know the feeling”, as they shared eye contact. The name Sudio is an homage to Phil Collins song Sussudio and the determination of succeeding with the venture rendered from the bitter sweet anecdote.

Now, let me share my Sudio Vasa Review.

Sudio Vasa: Packaging and Design

The packaging is simple and straightforward and included inside: a manual, guarantee card, a metal clip, 4 pairs of extra sleeves and a genuine leather carrying case.

The design is simple, yet luxurious. The 10.2mm driver is in an aluminum housing with a rose gold plating finishing, which looks really elegant. It makes me want to wear it more often!

It has flat cables, which means no more annoying untangling of earphones.

It also has a full feature 3-button remote and microphone for iPhone or Android devices.

I really appreciate the leather casing since it keeps the earphones protected and away from dirt when not in use. Not to mention, it’s also easier to look for it inside my handbag.

Sudio Vasa: Sound Quality

And of course, let’s talk about the sound quality. I can definitely hear more detail in my music. I hear more instruments and voices, which I don’t hear from my OEM earphones. The high and mids are balanced, not too harsh or aggressive. The bass output is average – not too heavy and not too soft either, so bass heads should take note of this.

By the way, make sure to break-in or warm up the earphones for several hours and have a good seal on your ear to give you a studio quality sound.

Hmmm… looks like I’m going to have a new companion!
