Getting that fresh, dewy skin can easily be achieved through makeup. But why rely on highlighters if you can actually get glowing skin – and I’m talking about bare skin! I frequently get the question, “What do I do to have glowing skin?” Finally, I’m posting about my top 5 tips to get glowing skin! Oh, and I’m also sharing the actual products I currently use! (You can click on some of the names of the products to direct you to my reviews)

CLEANSE

For the nth time, never ever sleep with makeup on. Use a makeup remover to remove all traces of makeup.

For heavy and waterproof makeup, I go for oil-based makeup remover.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

For light makeup, I use micellar water.

Whenever I travel, I go for wipes!

Although some makeup removers double as facial wash, I’d still suggest to do a double cleanse. This means to use your favorite facial wash after using the makeup remover. Oh, and of course, wash your face in the morning and in the evening.

For sensitive skin, there’s Physiogel Calming Relief Gentle Cream Cleanser.

EXFOLIATE

This has something to do with cleansing as exfoliating can help remove dirt and oil build-up in between pores. It also gets rid of dead cells from the surface of the skin, thus improving skin’s texture – softer and smoother. Lastly, it can help in the blood circulation, giving the appearance of youthful glow. Exfoliate twice a week, unless specified by your dermatologist.

I use an exfoliating facial wash, which I alternate with my gentler cleansers every other day. I super love this Estee Lauder Nutritious Radiant Vitality 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser. It’s not really an exfoliating facial wash, but it feels like it has gentle micro exfoliators in it. This can be used everyday. Best of all, I use it as a deep purifying mask too. I just massaged over dry skin and let it stay for 2 minutes before rinsing.

To lather my facial wash, I use my gentle face brush of Clinique everyday, twice a day!

You can also use a home microdermabrasion device once a week.

Or if you don’t want to commit by buying a gadget, you can go for microdermabrasion treatments in reputable skin clinics, such as Facial Care Centre.

GET A FACIAL

Unfortunately, not everyone feels the need to get a facial, BUT the truth is dirt and oil can accumulate in between pores. Sometimes, they are too deep that regular facial wash or brush can’t unclog. This becomes blackheads, whiteheads, or even pimples, skin problems that are hindrances to get glowing skin. Therefore, a monthly visit to a facial clinic is a must – even if you think you have clear skin. If you have problematic skin, cleaning and unclogging pores twice a week could help (or better yet, ask your dermatologist). Another benefit of having a regular facial and clean pores is that the skincare products you use are better absorbed by the skin, which could lead to more desirable results.

I’ve been trying out Facial Care Centre for my monthly cleaning. They have various facial services to cater to different skin types and needs and each comes with a relaxing face massage, cleaning (removing of blackheads, whiteheads and pimples), and face mask (for skin hydration). Their resident dermatologist helped me in selecting the appropriate facial service for my skin condition. I recently tried Facial Care Centre’s Firming Facial, an anti-aging service. It’s probably the most relaxing facial I’ve ever had to date. After the service, my skin felt soft, supple, hydrated, and very clean.

HYDRATE

The ultimate secret to get that bright glowing skin is to have moisturized skin. Aside from hydrating the skin through facial treatments (as mentioned above), there is a need for maintenance. This is where your skincare products come in – toner, serum, and moisturizer. A day and night regimen is a must!

My morning skincare: Clinique Clarifying Lotion (I use #2 or #3 depending on the condition of my skin. Number 2 is for normal/combination skin, while number 3 is for oily skin); La Mer Revitalizing Hydrating Serum, Origins Plantscription Serum, Clinique Turnaround Daytime Moisturizer, Physiogel Daily Defence with SPF, and Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

My night skincare: Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eyes, La Mer Moisturizer, Physiogel Daily Defence Night Cream

You can also look into skincare products that specifically target skin brightening.

Bobbi Brown has recently launched Remedies, potent skin treatments that address a range of skin concerns. Below I have Skin Moisture Solution, for immediate hydration and to look instantly radiant, and Skin Reviver, which helps increase the appearance of skin’s vitality. These are used both day and night.

Aside from these products, putting on facial mask at least once or twice a week is also a must. I personally love doing it on weekends and I’m telling you, it’s the best feeling ever! It instantly rejuvenates my skin, making it ready for the new week ahead!

Just recently, La Mer introduced the new Blanc de la Mer Brilliance Brightening Mask, a potent two-step treatment to recapture skin’s luminous glow!

If you’re into all-natural skincare, Origins has various masks to choose from! I love the Maskimizer, the first ever mask primer to soften and hydrate skin for more effective mask absorption, and the Ginzing mask!

REVLITE

RevLite is a non-invasive total skin solution that delivers several results at once. It is an advanced laser treatment that targets and corrects skin pigmentation and discoloration, such as melasma, age and sun spots, and freckles. It also makes skin radiant!

facial-care-revlite

A few weeks ago, I tried RevLite at Facial Care Centre and I have to say, it is one of my favorite treatments now! I rarely go out after a skincare treatment – simply because I look like a tomato or my face looks tired or stressed out from cleaning. I was surprised how my skin looked after a Firming Facial followed by RevLite. Would you believe I didn’t mind going out for dinner right after?! I looked fresh, as if I had highlighter on. My skin was glowing! I initially thought it was just the “after-treatment” glow, but my skin became even brighter after a few days. RevLite is done at least once a month, after a facial service – and yup, I do highly recommend it!

This is me after the treatment with ZERO makeup.
