The Style Strategy- Nina Garcia’s Newest Book

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Lush Angel is back! Yup, I’m still here and I’m doing fine (that’s what I want to think…). Anyway,  I’m supposed to blog about my birthday outfit, but I’ll have to postpone that for tomorrow or some other day as I’m so excited to share about this new book of Nina Garcia. Hehehe! :-)

Arthur and I were craving for Pepper Lunch last Saturday so we decided to go to Rockwell and have our lunch there. He was doing his last minute shopping too so we really had to pass by Power Plant anyway. When we went inside National Bookstore, look what I saw…

Yes, it’s Nina Garcia’s newest book- The Style Strategy! :-) I’m becoming a fan of Nina Garcia after reading her books, The Little Black Book of Style and The One Hundred. I didn’t know that Nina Garcia released a new book recently. Oooops! My bad! Hehehe! I had a chance to browse through the book, The Style Strategy, and I loved it! :-) It talks about practicality. It’s all about the less-is-more approach to staying chic and shopping smart. Nina Garcia shares secrets of her own style strategy. She says, before you start shopping, you need to ask ourselves the 3 core questions- “What do I have?”, “What do I need”, and “What do I want?”.  Hmmm… sound interesting eh? Let us dig in to these questions… :-)

Archie Andrews is Getting Married… At last!

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Yup, you read it right! Sorry about the topic but this one just needs to be announced since we all have loved Archie! :-) A lot of us grew up reading Archie comics and for decades the love triangle, Archie – Veronica – Betty, have brought too much fuzz and debates amongst us. I, myself, am confused if I like Veronica or Betty for Archie. I remember, for every issue that I read, I always had a fave. Hehehe! If Veronica is being too snotty, I’m definitely pro-Betty, but whenever I feel that Betty is too good to be true, I instantly find her boring. Hehehe! I suppose I’m not the only one who had this kind of uncertainty. Hehehe! :-)

But now, Archie has finally made a choice! This is what we have been waiting for so long! So who is the lucky girl? It’s Veronica! So for Archie fanatics, await for this collectible to be out this August!

So now, do you think Archie made the right choice? Voice out your vote! :-)

An Inspiring Article: On Money by Adam Khoo

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

I came across this article in one of my e-mails. Honestly, I rarely read my e-mails, especially if it’s a forwarded message; but thanks to my sister, she told me to read it for her ‘cuz she seems to be so busy these days. Her officemate told her that it’s really an inspiring and worth reading article, so she told me to just relay to her what it says. Well, true enough, it is definitely a good read! I ended up pondering on what my life has been for the past 20 plus years. In fact, after reading this, you might find it weird that I posted such kind of article here. I know, this site is supposed to be about living the lush-cious life. The kind of life that I, personally, think is good or the kind of life a lot of people dream of; but yes not all people are like me. Not all people are fond of shopping, traveling, dining in good restaurants, or in short, not all people are fond of spending. For them, the good life is not something you can buy. In fact, life’s real fulfillment comes from what you do and that the money that comes with it is just a mere bonus. And this is the plain reason why most people who think this way are millionaires. If you wanna know their secrets and be inspired on how to look your life differently, read on the article below written by Adam Khoo, the youngest millionaire in Singapore. He is a self-made millionaire and at the age of 26, he already owns several businesses and earns around $30 million a year.

The Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

the little black book of styleI know two days ago I just posted about The One Hundred by Nina Garcia. That was really a late post since I bought that book two weeks ago. In fact now, I was able to grab her first book! What a loser! I know that The Little Black Book of Style has been out since 2007. And after months and months of searching, finally I have my own! Lucky me since I got it on sale again at Fully Booked! Yay! Okay, probably people who know me find me odd already. I’ve been talking about too much books this week, huh?! Well, this is different. The Little Black Book of Style, similar to The One Hundred, is sooo easy to read and the illustrations by Ruben Toledo are so chic and fun. I love it! And hello, I honestly think The Little Black Book of Style is also a fashionista must-have. So what’s in it???

The One Hundred by Nina Garcia

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

One of the things I bought during the last sale in Rockwell is a book. Yah, a book! I don’t read much or more of- I don’t have time to read anymore that’s why I was influenced by Flair Candy to just listen to the audio book of Twilight. Hahaha! Just a side comment- I’m sooo hook on listening to its audio book and I’ve reached the point of listening to it when I’m driving alone! I’m getting more in love with Edward as I imagine him saying his lines. Waaaah!!! Psycho! I have influenced a number of my friends to listen to the audio book as well. LOL! Because of the convenience of this audio book, I must admit that it’s a lazy man’s thing. Hahaha! Anyways, going back to my new book… Since I don’t have time to read, it is surprising for me to buy one! But the moment I got hold of it, I knew I had to take it to the counter! It was the third to the last copy left at Fully Booked and it was on sale! So what book is it?

Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Some people believe that natural beauty is better than wearing makeup and that staying away from chemicals found in those compacts is healthier. I wouldn’t want to contest that since I believe it could be true. BUT… a big BUT… I still think that makeup really does a lot of good (or probably excellent) work when it comes to looks. That’s the reason why natural-look makeup is becoming a favorite of a lot of people and mineral makeup is also growing popularity. Since makeup greatly enhances the look of a person, I classify wearing makeup as a need to look presentable at all times. I know not everyone would agree on me on that. That’s just my opinion. I guess this is how I was brought up. My mom sees makeup as a necessity. She never leaves the house without makeup on. Seeing that as I grew up influenced me a lot. And now that Bobbi Brown came up with a makeup manual, I really think it’s a must-have for me, or probably gals like me!

I have been longing to get makeup lessons. Time wouldn’t just allow me. Just imagine my joy when I learned about this Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual! I know I’m kinda late since this book has been published about a month ago. I have yet to look for it in bookstores but Amazon is already selling this Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual for $21.12.

So why am I overly excited about this book? Well, it is always good to know the basics right? And as a makeup enthusiast, I’d love to hear the basics from an expert. Bobbi has more than 25 years of experience as a makeup artist. Aside from this, Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual includes the ten steps to perfect makeup, which would show how to apply makeup in just a matter of minutes. Oh, and who wouldn’t get excited with a makeup guide that says “For Everyone from Beginner to Pro”?! :-)
