Bacolod Masskara Festival (Part 1): #SmartMasskara

As promised in my initial #SmartMasskara post HERE, I’m sharing my Bacolod Masskara Festival experience. I’ll have to divide it into two posts though because so many things happened in our four days in Bacolod. It was my first time in this beautiful city, so just imagine how excited I was weeks before our flight. Best of all, I couldn’t wait to be at the much-talked about Masskara Festival with my Smart family. My first ever festival was the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo and it was epic! It was such an unforgettable experience and I honestly didn’t expect it would be that fun. Well, the credit goes to my Smart family since they gave me the best festival experience! 😀 😀 😀 After Dinagyang Festival, I promised myself to attend more festivals around the country- and Masskara was definitely part of my list! 😀 Day 1: Bacolod Masskara Festival #SmartMasskara   First order of business right after dropping off our bags at our hotel was to eat the Bacolod Chicken Inasal! Although we have it here in Manila, of course, nothing compares to the original inasal! Manokan Country (near SM) is the place to go if you want Chicken Inasal. There are various restaurants all serving Chicken Inasal. As suggested by our driver, Nene’s Beth should be the best. 😉 And our smiles show how our tummies enjoyed the dinner… Haha! 😀 We then...

OOTD: The Ruins Bacolod #SmartMasskara

If you’ve been following me on Instagram (@lush_angel), Twitter (@lush_angel), or my Facebook page (lushangelblog), you’ve probably seen some photos of my Bacolod trip with my Smart family. It was my first time in this beautiful city. And what’s the best time to visit if you’re into parties and the festive vibe? The famous Masskara Festival, of course! 😀 Smart made it an unforgettable festival with all their parties around the city, like the Masskara Lovedance, Masskara Invasion, and Maskaraland. Anyway, I’ll share more about the trip in my next post. For now, let me start my #SmartMasskara experience with an OOTD. A trip to Bacolod won’t be complete without visiting The Ruins, a famous tourist spot in Talisay City. Just a quick background, The Ruins is actually ruins of an old mansion owned by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson. It was destroyed during World War II and was just restored, which is the structure we now see. Every corner is really picturesque, so an #OOTD is a must! I’m happy to be with fashion bloggers since we all took our time taking photos. Hehe! Thanks to Alyssa Lapid for being so patient in taking my photos. 😉 Since I expected it to be hot and I wanted to be comfortable all throughout the trip, I only brought various shorts and tops. This look has that summer feel – bright top paired with crochet...

Travelogue: Siquijor (How To Get There) + Dumaguete Trip

Siquijor is one of the provinces in the Philippines that hasn’t really been explored (unlike Boracay or Palawan) by a lot of beach lovers out there. I shared my travel experience in my Travelogue: Siquijor (Beach + Accommodation + Things To Do) post and I definitely want to go back! For those who are not familiar how to get there, here are some information. Unfortunately, you need to make an extra effort to go to Siquijor. There’s no direct flight to the island, so the fastest way is to get a flight to Dumaguete. From Dumaguete port, there are several ferries and fastcrafts that could bring you to Siquijor in just about an hour. You need to check on the schedules. Since there was a strong typhoon when we landed in Dumaguete, it was unfortunate that all ferries were cancelled that day. Or wait, should I say fortunate? Because our resort in Siquijor, Coco Grove Beach Resort, offered us to travel by a 4-seater plane. Of course, a chartered plane would cost us more but we decided to go for it since we only had 3 days and 2 nights in the island. The resort gave us a good offer anyway. Since we had to wait for about 3 more hours, we decided to grab some lunch. Actually, if you have a few hours to spare, I suggest going around the city of...

Travelogue: Siquijor (Beach + Accommodation + Things To Do)

Finally, I’m doing a travel post! It has been a while since my last and I’m hoping I could do more in the weeks, months and years to come. I’ve been receiving a lot of inquiries about my travels, which I share more on my Instagram account (@lush_angel). I’ve been wanting to share more details, such as itineraries, accommodations, and other travel recommendations. In fact, do you know that I initially created this blog to be my travel diary? Well, it evolved to fashion and beauty, then to a little bit of everything. I have a couple of travel posts, but you would notice most of them do not have photos anymore. 🙁 Thanks to Multiply photo sharing website, most of my travel photos here in my blog were deleted when they decided to close down. Ugh! Anyway, since traveling has been part of my life ever since I was a kid and I would like to believe that I live to learn through my travels, I’ll try to post all my travels and adventures. 😀 My first beach trip this year (2014) was Siquijor. I’ve been meaning to visit the island for years now, but, like most Filipinos, the mystery of the island led me to postpone my travel several times. In the Philippines, the province is known to have witches, magic potions, sorcerers, and the likes. Armed with a...

Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2014 Experience #LiveAllOut

When I got a word from SMART that I will be sent to Iloilo for the famous Dinagyang Festival, I got extremely excited… at the same time, nervous. Well, it would be my first time in Iloilo and my first time to really experience a festival. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the big festivals here in the Philippines. My friends would always go back to Manila saying, “It was super fun and really worth the experience.” Most of them even keep on coming back and I’ve always wondered why. I just end up seeing a few photos and clips on social media or television. Well, not this time. Finally, I’m experiencing it myself. Thanks to my SMART family I’m reminded to live it all out! 😀 I, together with my fellow SMART ambassadors and team, stayed at Casa La Granja. It has a very cozy vibe- not the usual kind of hotel. photo from casalagranja.com photo from casalagranja.com Here’s the room for triple sharing. There are two more single beds on the other side of the divider. Right after checking in at Casa La Granja, we went to Plazuela de Iloilo for the Live All Out Party Truck. This served as the pre-party of the SMART Invasion Party by Spectrum happening the following day. Can I just share how cool...
