Travelogue: Siquijor (How To Get There) + Dumaguete Trip

Siquijor is one of the provinces in the Philippines that hasn’t really been explored (unlike Boracay or Palawan) by a lot of beach lovers out there. I shared my travel experience in my Travelogue: Siquijor (Beach + Accommodation + Things To Do) post and I definitely want to go back! For those who are not familiar how to get there, here are some information. Unfortunately, you need to make an extra effort to go to Siquijor. There’s no direct flight to the island, so the fastest way is to get a flight to Dumaguete. From Dumaguete port, there are several ferries and fastcrafts that could bring you to Siquijor in just about an hour. You need to check on the schedules. Since there was a strong typhoon when we landed in Dumaguete, it was unfortunate that all ferries were cancelled that day. Or wait, should I say fortunate? Because our resort in Siquijor, Coco Grove Beach Resort, offered us to travel by a 4-seater plane. Of course, a chartered plane would cost us more but we decided to go for it since we only had 3 days and 2 nights in the island. The resort gave us a good offer anyway. Since we had to wait for about 3 more hours, we decided to grab some lunch. Actually, if you have a few hours to spare, I suggest going around the city of...

Travelogue: Siquijor (Beach + Accommodation + Things To Do)

Finally, I’m doing a travel post! It has been a while since my last and I’m hoping I could do more in the weeks, months and years to come. I’ve been receiving a lot of inquiries about my travels, which I share more on my Instagram account (@lush_angel). I’ve been wanting to share more details, such as itineraries, accommodations, and other travel recommendations. In fact, do you know that I initially created this blog to be my travel diary? Well, it evolved to fashion and beauty, then to a little bit of everything. I have a couple of travel posts, but you would notice most of them do not have photos anymore. 🙁 Thanks to Multiply photo sharing website, most of my travel photos here in my blog were deleted when they decided to close down. Ugh! Anyway, since traveling has been part of my life ever since I was a kid and I would like to believe that I live to learn through my travels, I’ll try to post all my travels and adventures. 😀 My first beach trip this year (2014) was Siquijor. I’ve been meaning to visit the island for years now, but, like most Filipinos, the mystery of the island led me to postpone my travel several times. In the Philippines, the province is known to have witches, magic potions, sorcerers, and the likes. Armed with a...

Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2014 Experience #LiveAllOut

When I got a word from SMART that I will be sent to Iloilo for the famous Dinagyang Festival, I got extremely excited… at the same time, nervous. Well, it would be my first time in Iloilo and my first time to really experience a festival. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the big festivals here in the Philippines. My friends would always go back to Manila saying, “It was super fun and really worth the experience.” Most of them even keep on coming back and I’ve always wondered why. I just end up seeing a few photos and clips on social media or television. Well, not this time. Finally, I’m experiencing it myself. Thanks to my SMART family I’m reminded to live it all out! 😀 I, together with my fellow SMART ambassadors and team, stayed at Casa La Granja. It has a very cozy vibe- not the usual kind of hotel. photo from casalagranja.com photo from casalagranja.com Here’s the room for triple sharing. There are two more single beds on the other side of the divider. Right after checking in at Casa La Granja, we went to Plazuela de Iloilo for the Live All Out Party Truck. This served as the pre-party of the SMART Invasion Party by Spectrum happening the following day. Can I just share how cool...

The Year That Was: 2013 Travels

I know, this is quite a late post. I’m sorry. I just want to have a quick look of my 2013. There were so many things that happened and I’m truly grateful for all the blessings. More and more brands/ companies have given their trust to this blog, which I’m really thankful! 😀 I’ve been trying to think of the highlight of my 2013, until my good friend, Soph, made me realize that it was a travel year for me. Ever since I was a kid, my family and I make it a point to travel at least once a year. We try to squeeze it in during my summer vacation. As soon as I graduated, my once a year travel became more often. Probably, 2013 was one of the books! It wasn’t as intense as my 2009, when I was literally on the plane to travel somewhere every month. Still, 2013 was a good travel year for me. 😀 January, I was in Hong Kong to celebrate New Year with my family. It was one of my memorable New Year celebrations as it was my first time to experience the countdown out of the country. My parents would always want to spend it at home so we could light our own fireworks. As they say, it can drive bad elements away and let luck come in. Finally, my mom...
