A few months back, I enjoyed an overnight staycation at Discovery Country Suites in Tagaytay. If you’ve been following me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you’ve probably seen my unending posts about this place. Sorry for flooding, but if you know me, I don’t really post that much unless I’m extremely happy. I’ve also shared in my previous blog post how satisfied my tummy was in their very own Restaurant Verbana. If you’re going to Tagaytay for a day trip or food trip, you shouldn’t miss it! Read more about it in my Restaurant Verbena by Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay post. Now, it’s time to share my staycation experience. There’s a reason why I call it “The Discovery Country Suites Experience”. Know more about it below.
When I arrived at Discovery Country Suites, a bouquet of flowers and refreshing drink welcomed me. It was a perfect treat after a long drive. First order of business was to tour the property! Just a little trivia, this used to be a vacation house of the Tiu family, which they then decided to convert to a bed and breakfast.
I really had a hard time trimming down my photos – reason why this post came a bit late. You’ll be surprised that for a relatively small place, I have almost 200 photos! Every corner is just picture perfect- even the rooms! Let me show some of them.
The moment I entered Discovery Country Suites, I immediately noticed the homey and cozy ambiance. It was literally like home away from home.
Discovery Country Suites has only 7 suites, which is why it is highly advisable to book a reservation in advance. For peak season, you might even have to reserve weeks or a month before your scheduled stay.
They focused on their themed-room concept, which makes them unique. Each suite has original individual theme that can be identified through the ambiance, furniture accent pieces, beddings and linens. To make sure their guests can enjoy the quiet and peaceful countryside, all the rooms have soundproof walls.
NANTUCKET features a laid-back American Cape Cod concept with light blue walls, pastel tones and natural fabrics. It has 1 queen-sized and 1 twin-sized beds, which is actually a really big room for two. If you’re a group of 3 or 4, you can simply add PHP 1,500/head (inclusive of breakfast and wine & cheese platter).
SAINT TROPEZ suite is obviously a St. Tropez-themed room. It’s as if your yacht is just waiting outside the room. Haha! The suite has light color palette, which is very relaxing. It has 2 Queen beds, which can comfortably accommodate 4 pax.
ANDALUCIA is quite similar to Saint Tropez suite, except that it’s a Spanish-inspired room.
OXFORD suite is very English, with its dark color motif and fireplace. The moment I entered, I was like transported back to London. The suite is similar to some of the rooms I saw inside the palaces in England. It’s a perfect room for honeymooners, with its king-sized bed, high-ceiling, and hard wood flooring.
Oh, and the bathroom? It is actually my peg for my own house! Haha! There’s a huge tub with a separate shower. It also has two separate sinks for him and her.
For me, the Oxford room has the best view of the taal lake – and the jacuzzi.
At the lower ground of the “house” is a common area. There’s a big sala where guests can simply lounge.
Outside is a small garden. They have a little corner where they grow their own herbs. As I said in my Restaurant Verbena by Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay post, their concept is farm to table. All their vegetables are guaranteed fresh. They’re either delivered by their chosen supplier or picked from their very own garden.
Of course, my favorite area would probably be the jacuzzi with the breathtaking view of the taal lake.
If you’re looking for a little more privacy, they have the CEYLON suite which is also located at the garden level. It has its own private entrance. This Sri Lanka-inspired room has a king bed and a daybed.
SIAM is a Thai-themed room with two Queen-sized beds and a sala.
I stayed in NARA, which is also located at the lower ground. It’s a perfect location for me because the jacuzzi is right outside the room! Haha! It’s a Japanese-inspired room as seen in the wooden SOJI sliding doors, the pebbled floors, Japanese dolls, and tatami mats. It has a king-sized bed and a day bed, perfect for a couple with one kid.
More than the ambiance and the comfort of their rooms, The Discovery Country Suites experience is one of a kind because of their exceptional service. Let me start with their unending surprises. First is when I arrived, they greeted me with a bouquet of flowers. Then, when I entered my room, I was greeted by this…
Whoa! They surely went the extra mile by researching on my Dove Daily Hair Vitamin video tutorial and my photo! They even have welcome banner and special pillow cases with our names on it.
And just when I thought that was it (since I was already overwhelmed with their surprises), I was served with my favorite Foie Gras during lunch! Take note, I didn’t even tell them it was my favorite. I just remembered talking to one of our friends from Discovery Leisure Company and told her in passing about my love for Foie Gras. I was surprised how she remembered and told Discovery Country Suites about it.
Right after dinner, I was contemplating on what to do inside my room. I was thinking if I should just blog or walk to the nearby Starbucks. When I entered the room, another surprise was waiting for me! I left the room a bit messy. When I got back, everything was in order again. And look at what they prepared for us?! I didn’t had any idea that it was going to be a movie marathon night! The feel-good movies, the popcorn, the dessert – they got them all covered! Oh, can I just mention how exceptionally good the chocolate cake was?! I just learned that it’s not part of Restaurant Verbena’s menu. They only serve it to their Discovery Country Suites guests. Hmmm… something to look forward to on my next stay!!!
They really try their best to make the stay of their guests special. For returning guests, they go the extra mile since they already have an idea what they want. They really make sure you’ll look forward to something special.
Discovery Country Suites packages come with a very relaxing 60-minute massage, a wine and cheese platter, and breakfast for two.
Now, see what I meant with “The Discovery Country Suites Experience”? The attention-to-detail accorded to each guest makes them unique and it’s actually the trademark of The Discovery Leisure Company. It was just an overnight staycation, but it was my most memorable staycation to date.
Thank you so much to the whole team of Discovery Country Suites!
