I went to a baptism a few weeks ago. It was a really hot day, so I opted to wear something light yet not too casual.
It’s a white romper with a little peek-a-boo at the back. Well, it’s made of chiffon, making it less casual.
Accessories greatly help in dressing up a look. I wore a long gold necklace and a dress watch. My bracelet is on the edgy side, but since it’s a day event, I don’t mind incorporating it in the look.
I decided to go for flats simply because it was a Sunday. I just needed a break from heels. Of course, wearing heels can dress up the look more. Well, it was really just a casual gathering of friends in a function room, so my sandals are forgivable. Haha!
As you can see, I mixed gold and silver in this look. If you’re afraid to mix metallics, just remember to wear at least two of each. In this case, I have silver sandals and a bag with silver hardware. Then, I have a gold necklace and a bracelet with gold studs. Also, wearing a 2-tone watch makes it easier to throw in both or either gold or silver.
As for my bag, I chose one that I can carry as a handbag or shoulder bag. It’s one of those that can easily get me through the entire day. It’s roomy enough to fit my things I need during the day, at the same time, it’s not so huge for dinner out. Although the lower portion is made of canvas, the leather flap, handle and strap makes it look less casual. So, if you need a bag that’s good for day and night, always consider the style, size and fabric. For example, huge totes, especially those made of canvas, are only good for the day.
