Long gown is my go-to when I attend weddings. I tried something different this time though.

I went for a skirt and a dressy top. A friend of mine gifted me the skirt for quite a while now and I haven’t gotten the chance to wear it. I thought this would be the best time to use it.

What goes with red? Black, of course! Anything goes well with black.

Since I’m not wearing a long skirt, I made sure to pair it with a really nice dressy top. If you want a more formal look, you can opt for a long skirt instead.

I understand that investing in gowns is not that economical because we rarely use them again. As a tip, why not invest on a ball gown skirt (a longer version of the skirt I’m wearing)? You can pair it with a different top every time you use it. Just make sure that you can mix and match the tops you buy. 😉 Take for example this black ruffled top I’m wearing — I can wear it even with jeans for casual events.

Here are more styling tips when attending weddings.

Check the color motif. Try to veer away from these shades if you are a guest so you won’t be mistaken as part of the entourage.
When wearing black or white, make sure the couple or their families are comfortable with it. Some have superstitions when it comes to these colors. To be sure, ask the couple or their wedding coordinator.
Read the invitation. Some couples request their guests to wear certain shades. Let’s make an effort to grant their wishes, please?
At the end of the day, remember that it is not about YOU. It’s the couple’s moment. Your goal is not to steal the spotlight, but at the same time, make an effort to be presentable as a guest.
