Whenever I visit Japan, I can’t help but notice the cute backpacks that the locals carry. They are not the usual skater backpacks. They look unique, at the same time, fit the street-style fashion of the Japanese. Finally, there is no need to visit Tokyo just to get hold of these fashionable bags! Rootote, the famous Japanese brand iconic for multi-functional totes and backpacks, is now in the Philippines.
I recently visited its first branch located at the 3rd level of The Block in SM North Edsa. Let me show you around…
Just to give a quick background, the name Rootote comes from the animal kangaroo; since kangaroo’s have an inner pocket, so do all Rootote bags inside with the patented “roo pocket”.
Rootote is known in Japan for the innovation of a simple tote bag into a stylish and functional bag that fits an active lifestyle while highlighting Japanese street-style fashion. Japanese influence is evident in every Rootote bag with fashion-forward style and design functions that are very practical in any situation
Rootote offers a unique line-up of 2-way backpacks and tote bags (PHP 3,330) that are fit for both men and women. As seen above, they come in different colors and camo print too. They are perfect for travel, sports, casual-use, and other outdoor activities as they are water-repellent and have the patented “roo pocket” along with numerous pockets inside and outside the bag.
The bag is very light and spacious — the kind of tote/ backpack I would love to carry around especially when I travel. If my arm gets tired from carrying it as a tote (which always happens to me), I can easily switch it to a backpack.
Aside from the above, Rootote also offers other styles…
I had a hard time choosing for myself. Will I go pastel? Or should I reach for my usual black, white or grey? Well, none of the above! I ended up getting this two-tone backpack…
Not my usual pick, but the color combo got me! LOL!
Rootote bags are priced from PHP 2,295 to PHP 3,300.
