Last week, I was invited to SoFA’s (School of Fashion and the Arts) launch of their newest course which will start this July. SoFA Design Institute and L’Oreal Professionnel Philippines together brings you Hair Design Atelier– a cutting and hairstyling course!

One of the things I really want to learn is hairstyling. Well, I sort of do simple hairstyling already on my clients, but I’d love to learn more (Who doesn’t?!) I wouldn’t really make it as a profession, but sometimes my work calls for it. I’ve been wanting to enroll in a hairstyling class and this launch came just right on time! Before I go on with the details, let me tour you around SoFA. It was actually my first time in their new building- Enzo Building, Buendia Avenue, Makati.

I’ve always dreamed of going to a fashion school. By now, you’ve probably realized how much I want to conquer the world. Haha! Yes, I want to do a lot of things! I don’t know, but going around SoFA’s campus feels like home. The moment I entered, this is what I saw…

Creativity never runs out in this place!!! I love it! 😀

I would never think of skipping class if I have these mannequins by my side!!! 😀

This would be the classroom of the hairstyling class. I arrived quite early so the L’Oreal team was still setting up at that time.

A few minutes later, Yam Palisoc-Barcena, L’Oreal’s Education and Artistic Manager, welcomed all of us. She also did a few introduction about L’Oreal Professionnel and hairstyling.

Yam also introduced the trainers of the Hair Design Atelier course- Wesley Po, Ara Fernando and Eddiemar Cabiltes.

Here they are… Sorry, this is the only photo I have with the 3 of them together. Eeek!

Wesley also did a short demonstration of an up-do hairstyle- something I really want to learn! He was going for an Audrey Hepburn look.

A few minutes after, here she is…

This 2012, these esteemed companies, L’Oreal Professionnel and SoFA Design Institute, ventures into Hair Design as it offers Hair Design Atelier, a cutting and hairstyling course. Both powerhouses believe that artistry has moved from canvas to hair and as such, endeavors to reinvent the profession as well as uplift the education in the practice as hairstyling works its way up as a coveted career in design. The practice of Hair Design has confidently gone beyond salons and is making its way into major runways and advertising.

The Hair Design Atelier drives at strengthening knowledge on the practicalities of cutting and hairstyling as well as breeding a passion for hair design among fledgling Filipino hairstylists. This intensive course adapts lecture and practical based methods of teaching for rounded instruction. As aids to training, students shall be provided learning modules and references as well as L’Oreal tools and products for practice. Aspiring stylists and seasoned stylists seeking to enhance their current skill set will surely find the course worthwhile.

Oh dear, now I’m more eager to learn hairstyling! Haha! Okay, and probably walk along the SoFA’s corridors as well! Tihihi! 😀

Hair Design Atelier will start on July 28. Classes will be every Saturday, from 9am to 6pm.

You may call SoFA’s Admissions Office at 4784622 loc. 103 or email [email protected] for more information on schedules, rates and other course details.
