Last Friday, February 28, 2013, G-Shock launched the limited edition Shock The World Manila Watch that is available exclusively here in the Philippines.

Kikuo Ibe, the father of G-Shock, was present during the launch. He shared to everyone how he started G-Shock. It began with an idea to create a watch that doesn’t break when dropped. G-Shock stunned the world by creating a watch that challenged the very definition of toughness. The first G-Shock model, developed in 1983, was born from the “Triple 10” concept– 10-year battery life, 10-bar water resistance & 10-meter dropping shock resistance. And after 30 years, their objectives remain unchanged, and they are still in pursuit of the absolute toughness. Oh, and did I mention that Kikuo Ibe related his G-Shock story in Tagalog?! He’s amazing and funny! Being able to give his talk in Tagalog really impressed me! 😀

The first Shock the World event happened in New York in 2008. Since then, it has grown into a series of events that happen simultaneously all over the world. And last Friday, G-Shock fans experienced Shock the World here in Manila, transforming a local space into an inspiring showcase of the latest Casio G-Shock timepieces.

Here I am with Ana enjoying the event at Hyve… We went all the way from our bazaar at World Trade Center just to see Kikuo Ibe and of course, the ultimately handsome G-Shock Shock the World Manila Watch!

Kikuo Ibe ended his speech with a very nice note- Never Give Up! Just like him who experienced failures in creating a really tough watch but never gave up, he wants to share to everyone that we should also do the same in reaching our goals and dreams.
