OOTD: The Birkenstock Comeback

I remember seeing my pair of Birkenstock when I was cleaning my shoe closet early last year. My first thought? What was I thinking then to own one?! But my sentimental self made me hide the sandals again instead of putting it inside the box for garage sale. Who would have thought that those bulky sandals with therapeutic foot bed will have a comeback? Well, we all know that fashion trends are cyclical. And it’s a good thing I still kept my pair of classic Birkenstock from more than 15 years ago. Yes, it’s still alive and kickin’! 😀

This is indeed a #throwback! I should have posted this on Thursday for my #ThrowbackThursday post. Well, I couldn’t wait to share this with you.

Still can’t imagine yourself wearing those chunky sandals? Well, I won’t push it. Let me just give you a background on its comeback. Birkenstock or Birkenstock-inspired footwear is the latest Spring – Summer 2014 shoe trend. It has been seen on Celine’s catwalk, Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy Spring 2014, and Hollywood celebrities.

Well, wearing this pair again is not so bad after all! It’s not as bulky as it looks when worn. Haha! Plus, it’s comfortable and trendy at the same time. 😀

And to keep the look classic and a complete #throwback, I saw my mom’s blouse which she just placed inside the garage sale box. I decided to turn it into a little white dress. 😀

It was just a casual shopping day for me so pairing this little white dress with Birks was perfect. But if I’d wear this dress (or should I say, blouse) in events or dinner dates, I could easily dress it up with heels. So, I guess this piece won’t go back to the garage sale box just yet.

For some pop of color, I used this Emerald purse. This is actually a mini bag reveal. I was able to get it during my recent trip to London. This baby gave me a bit of a hard time. I had to go store hopping. Anyway, I’m doing a bag review of this Modalu Mini Pippa next. 😀

As for my makeup, I’m using Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Lipstick in Sunset Kiss, Clinique Cheek Pop blush, Bobbi Brown Brightening Powder Foundation, Happy Skin Eye Am Here To Stay Eyeliner in Mint Green, MAC Browset in Girl Boy, and Benefit Brow Zings.
