There are days when I just want to hide my dark under eyes and skip all other makeup products. My dilemma: Concealers tend to crease and do not last the entire day when not set with powder. So when I heard about the new MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Light Capturing Self-Setting Concealer, I was a bit skeptical– how can a cream concealer be self-setting? If this claim is true or not, read on my full review below.

Tips on Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Light Capturing Self-Setting Concealer

  • Although MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Light Capturing Self-Setting Concealer is hydrating, I still make sure to prep my skin and apply a light eye cream that can easily be absorbed by the skin.
  • I just apply 3 dots per area and blend using my ring finger. You can always add more or build the coverage, if you wish.
  • If I want to make sure the concealer will last the entire day, I set it with translucent powder.
  • If you are using liquid foundation, apply the concealer on top. If you’re using powder foundation, apply the concealer before the powder.
  • As suggested in MUFE’s website, to cover a blemish, place a small amount of loose powder on the spot first then place a dot of concealer over the top and dab until blended. Apply more loose powder on top to set.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Light Capturing Self-Setting Concealer Verdict

So to answer the question above, yes, MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Light Capturing Self-Setting Concealer is really self-setting. This means the concealer won’t crease and it can last the entire day even if you don’t apply powder on top.

If you are looking for an everyday concealer, this is definitely worth a try. But if you need a concealer that can also cover dark blemishes, you might need a concealer with heavier coverage.

I have with me shade 34, which is Golden Sand. As seen on my left under eye, the concealer is darker than my skin tone. I can only use about 3 dots on each area and blend out. I cannot build up the coverage because the mismatched shade will be too obvious. But if you compare my left and right under eyes, the peachy shade of the concealer was able to color-correct the darkness of the area.
