Who doesn’t know La Mer?! It has been known to be the holy grail when it comes to skin care, especially their iconic Crème de la Mer. And after 50 years, it’s still part of every beauty enthusiast’s staple or wish list, at least.

But what’s the buzz all about? What makes La Mer an icon of transformation? Why is it in every woman’s wish list despite its hefty price tag?
The brand began when physicist Dr. Max Huber experienced severe chemical burns due to a laboratory accident. He went on a personal quest to heal and smoothen the look of his skin. Inspired by the healing energies of the sea, Huber fermented nutrient-rich kelp with other natural ingredients, such as algae, antioxidant extracts, and semi-precious stones. 12 years and 6,000 experiments later, Miracle Broth™ was born.

My La Mer Story
Even I have my own miraculous story of transformation. If you’ve been following me on Instagram (@lush_angel) for quite a while now, I got a huge jelly fish sting on my ankle during my vacation in Boracay late last year.
Okay, maybe it’s not so big, but I usually wear skirt or shorts. To my horror, this mark turned from red to dark brown, making it even more noticeable. I read so many articles online and most of them say, jelly fish scars take several years to fade – or mostly, never. I lost hope, to be honest, until a friend gave me a sample of La Mer The Concentrate. It has highly concentrated Miracle Broth™.
I applied the La Mer Concentrate everyday, morning and night. I saw the huge difference in just a month. Due to my busy schedule though, I failed to apply it religiously anymore after a month. But check out how my ankle looks now…
The mark is barely there! There are a few light spots, but you wouldn’t guess it used to be a jelly fish scar.
Another product that I use on my face is the La Mer Radiant Serum. I use it on days when I feel my skin looks tired. It instantly gives glow to my skin, even underneath my makeup. Unfortunately, this serum has been faced out, but they still have The Brightening Infusion Intense, which practically does the same thing.
Now, that’s my La Mer story. But, I’m actually looking forward to write my own personal experience with the most coveted Crème de la Mer.
Crème de la Mer
Crème de la Mer claims that it can transform the look of the skin. It is said to improve firmness, diminish appearance of lines, wrinkles, and pores.
Honestly, with my skin’s current condition, I feel the need of that transformation soon. Unfortunately, the original Crème de la Mer has very rich texture, which my oily skin doesn’t want. But during an intimate event with La Mer Philippines, I was introduced to do the different consistencies of this legendary moisturizer. Yes, there are now varying finishes to cater to different skin types.

Mositurizing Lotion and Oil Absorbing Lotion
All these are said to be as effective as the original Crème de la Mer. The Moisturizing Gel Cream has that cooling gel formula, which is great for oily skin, while The Moisturizing Soft Cream has a lighter consistency than Crème de la Mer. The pump bottles, Mositurizing Lotion and Oil Absorbing Lotion, are perfect for travel.
Those with oily skin, like me, can also use the Oil Absorbing Lotion for day and Moisturizing Gel Cream or Moisturizing Soft Cream for night. The Moisturizing Lotion or Oil Absorbing Lotion and Moisturizing Soft Cream combo can also work for combination skin. Of course, Crème de la Mer is especially made for those with very dry skin.

And to celebrate the 50th year of La Mer, the iconic Crème de la Mer that started it all will be available in a limited-edition 60ml jar, a brushed amber gold featuring the brand signature from Dr. Huber’s very first jar.
During the intimate event, we were also treated to a pampering session for us to experience the La Mer skincare ritual. We were also taught of the proper way to apply La Mer products, that is to warm it on hands to activate the ingredients and pat it on skin. It was indeed a relaxing facial that can easily be done by yourself in the comfort of your home.
