Finally, I’ve come to the last part of my super long post. Just Imagine if I placed Part 1, Part 2 and this one, all in one post! I bet you’ll get tired of reading this. Hahaha! Anyway, bare with me with this last one as I will reveal some more important information.
So with all that I have discussed in Part 1, and Part 2 of my13-inch Aluminum MacBook Pro, it seems that this gadget is really superb! He may be an ultra hunk, but does this mean he is flawless? Read on below.
What are the flaws of this 13-inch Aluminum MacBook Pro?
I’m a newbie to the Mac family, which is why I am so amazed on how MacBook works. I have no problems with its performance, but there are only two bad things that I can think of right now. Actually, it’s not even particular to the 13-inch Aluminum MacBook Pro. The first one is probably more for all MacBooks with aluminum finish, while the second one is for all MacBooks in general.
My only problem with aluminum finished laptops is that they can easily be scratched. In fact, when I bought mine, the first stock given to me already had a long deep scratch in front. Though if you are not too O.C. about such things, you probably might not see it as it blends well with the aluminum finish. Hehehe! It’s just that my eyes are very particular to scratches! So if you are like me, don’t dare buying online. Hehehe! As a tip also, when you buy the aluminum MacBook Pro, buy a microfiber cloth or anything that could work as a cushion to avoid scratches whenever you place it on a table . Yah, sorry but I’m that O.C.! LOL! 🙂
The other bad thing when switching over to MacBook is the expenses that comes with it. Hahaha! As I have said in Part 2, if you have a particular application that does not have a Mac version in the softwares included in the package, then be ready to spend. In most instances, if not all, Mac versions of different applications cost more than the Windows version. In my case though, I don’t use applications wherein I still have to buy a Mac version so this bad side of Mac doesn’t affect me at all. Throwing away your money doesn’t end there still! When you go for a MacBook, there’s a 90% possibility that you’ll spend for Mac accessories too, such as their cute mouse, chic laptop bags/ sleeves, and colorful plastic cases. Mac has a lot of fashionable accessories! Oh dear! That means more expenses for me as I love to make my stuffs as chic as they can be! Hehehe! 🙂
More than these two bad sides, there’s nothing more I can think of, but I will definitely update you if I’d be encountering any problems in the future. (I hope there’s none!)
Where did I buy it?
As I have shared in this post, I got my Aluminum 13-inch MacBook Pro in Hong Kong. I got it from one of their premium authorized resellers listed in Apple’s site. The name of the store is Fortress. They have several branches. I got mine at Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Though the price is the same as in the internet price of Apple, I’d rather buy a laptop in a premium reseller to make sure I’m not being fooled. Plus, I get to check the laptop for scratches. Again, that’s just the OC-ness in me. Hehehe! 🙂
Now, how much is the damage?
All these, I paid for only HKD 9,288 or around Php 57,000. Not bad because I could probably spend almost the same price if I buy the laptop I was eyeing for in the U.S. Well, I just added a few thousands and I’m now part of the Mac family! Hehehe! 🙂
Oh, by the way, the phased out aluminum 13-inch MacBook and the white MacBook are already on sale in Hong Kong! 🙂
Well, I think that’s it! With such long posts, I don’t think I missed out on anything. Thanks for putting up with me. I just have so many things to share about my Hunk. In fact, I can now say that what Mac users say is true- “Once you go Mac, you’ll never go back to what you used to own.” Isn’t it obvious that I’m really a satisfied MacBook owner?! 🙂 Hehehe! Anyway, here’s a last look of my new 13-inch Aluminum MacBook…
Again, congrats, congrats!!! 🙂 Good thing those are the only two things you put as negative (got scared there might be something you didn’t like, hehe). Did you get the case/sleeve na? I’m getting a pink one when I buy 🙂 It’s definitely a must for aluminum macbooks. As for the high price, well, there’s nothing we can do about it… although good thing, the iWorks I’m getting is just an additional $49/79 ata if you buy it together with the macbook. I just hope I can easily adjust to iWorks for developing/designing websites. 🙂
Hehehe! Thanks thanks 🙂 I haven’t bought a sleeve yet because I prefer the hard case. For the meantime, I’m just using a regular laptop case, which was given to me for free. 🙂 Oh, I love the pink one too!!! 🙂 It’s sooo chic! 🙂 I love the shade of pink so much! Oh, and the purple too. 🙂 If I’m not mistaken, the pink is the one used in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. Hehehe! Lovely! 🙂 There are no hard cases available for the 13-inch MacBook Pro yet, though, which is why I haven’t bought any. The cases available are for the old 13-inch aluminum MacBook, which has different slots as compared to the Pro. It might take a while before the Mac stores here stock up on the 13-inch MacBook Pro cases. I will try to look for one in Hong Kong when I go back.
As for the applications, I didn’t get the iWorks yet since I feel I don’t need it right now. Hehehe! Bahala na next time. 🙂
hello guys, i have the new macbook aluminium 13″ with 160GB and 4GB ram, i wonder, what is the difference between this one and macbook pro 13″ apart from the HD memory.
Thank you guys,
Luis
Hi Luis! The MacBook Pro 13″ now has the SD card slot. Also, the cheapest MacBook 13″ upgraded its processor from 2.16ghz to 2.26ghz.
I find it so cheap in comparison to the prices we have here for the same macbook pro. It costs here 10,490 Norwegian kroner and it’s 84,000 in Philippine pesos. It’s almost 30,000 php more. You really got a sweet deal there.
I was about to buy the 2.53 ghz version of 13″ macbook pro today, but all macbook pros on that size is sold out in our city. I couldn’t even believed it. So I have to wait until Friday and at least I am 5th on the waiting list.
Wow! That really is expensive, but I still think every cent I paid for my macbook is worth it. 🙂
At least you don’t have to wait that long. 🙂 Friday is 2 days from now!!! I’m sure you’re excited to get hold of your macbook. Hehehe! Same feeling while I was buying it. Hahaha! Anyway, congrats on your new gadget! I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do. 🙂
I just got my brand new 13.3″ Macbook Pro in the mail. I customized mine with 4GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive, but with the entry-level 2.26 GHz Intel processor. I unboxed it in front of my mother and sister, and they were both oohing and aahing about how beautiful and thin it was. They also loved the magnetic connector on the end of the power adapter that snaps the power cord into the computer nearly by itself. I powered the computer up, went through the Leopard setup screens, and within minutes was logged in. While starting up, the light sensor powered on, the screen dimmed, and the keyboard lit-up automatically. Everything about this computer suggests ingenious design and engineering, with great attention to every detail. It is very light, and since I am using this for school, I am very happy with the size and form factor, particularly the charger. Switching from a large Dell that sported a charger that could be used to bludgeon somebody to death, the small white charger that is about the size of a wall
