Last April 15, 2013, Sofitel Philippine Plaza gave a sneak peek of their Mother’s Day special this coming May 12, 2013. Have you planned anything special for your mom or wife this coming Mother’s Day? If your mom loves fashion, beauty, and food, here’s one place to go! 😀


There will be a fab fashion show featuring the summer holiday collections of Pia Gladys Perey, fresh from the L.A. Fashion Week, and Mark Bumgarner, international Formula race driver and designer. The show will highlight celebrity mother – daughters and sons, like Rhian Ramos and Mom Lay Ramos, Cristina Gonzales – Romualdez, Geselle Toengi – Walters and daughter Sakura, Georgina Schulze Del Rosaario and daughters, Gwen Zamora and Mom Therese Agnese, Patty Betita and son Emilio Ejercito, etc.


Spiral’s Master Chefs will also be paying homage to their mother’s cooking. They will be featuring their personal favorites of their mother’s signature dishes.

Indian Chef Halim Ali Khan is preparing his childhood’s favorite dish Egg Biryani. Biryani is a typical rice dish from India. His mother gives it a twist by using garam masala with basmati rice, egg and ghee.


Executive Chef Eric Costille is presenting his Mom Claudine’s best dish, “Rabbit cocotte with rosemary and olives, gratinated parmesan polenta”, a fusion of French and Italian cooking.


Japanese Chef Hiroaki Yamaguchi is preparing “Nikujaga”, a Japanese beef stew considered by the Japanese as comfort food.


Chef de Cuisine – Western Anne Cecile Degenne is presenting her mother’s version of Paella, a traditional Spanish rice dish.


Executive Chinese Chef Mok Chee Wah is preparing his mother’s signature dish “slow cooked chicken with Chinese herbs wrapped in lotus leaf”, which takes about 3 to 4 hours to make.


Master Chocolatier Chef Tweet Obsequio is preparing Jasmin praline , a dark chocolate infused with jasmine tea.

The most-talked about Cheese Room… For the cheese lovers like me, we can definitely stay in here all day!!! There’s a wide variety of premium aged hams, charcuterie, smoked fish, artisanal cheese from France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Switzerland creamery products.



Complete the experience by pairing your ham and cheese with olives, herbs, sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, sauces and condiments.
