Xiaomi is quite a new player in the mobile phone industry, but I’ve heard so many good things about the brand. They are known for their high-spec and high-quality phones at incredibly low prices. Today, I’m reviewing one of Xiaomi’s entry-level smartphones. If you’re an entry-level snob, you might want to think again. Why? Check out Xiaomi Redmi 1s review below.
Box inclusions: power adapter, USB connector, mobile phone, battery
Xiaomi Redmi 1s comes in different colors. I got the black. It doesn’t look or feel cheap at all! It’s sleek and it doesn’t feel like plastic. Some may find it a con that it’s heavier and thicker compared to its competitors though.
It has a beautiful 4.7 inch touch screen with 1280 x 720 resolution. It has fast touch response. I didn’t experience any lags.

What actually caught my attention is its powerful processor – Quad-core 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with Cortex-A7. It has 8 GB ROM, 1 GB RAM and expandable external memory up to 32 GB. Some higher model brands do not even have such specs. This is quite amazing for an entry-level model.
It has 2000 mAh battery. Like any other smartphones, it drains pretty quick if you use the mobile internet all the time.
One notable feature of the Xiaomi Redmi 1s is its USB On-The-Go, which lets you connect a flash drive to your phone (micro USB connector required) so you can read and write files easily.
Of course, for social media addicts, the most important question would be – how’s the camera? It has 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 28mm wide angle lens, ƒ/2.2 aperture, and 1080p video recording. It also has real-time filters and face detect. As for the front camera, it has 1.6MP cam and 720p video.

Last but not the least, it’s only PHP 5,599 at lazada.com.ph. Yes, it’s definitely a great deal considering its specs. If you’re wondering why Xiaomi can afford to lower their prices compared to other brands, it’s because of their business model. They sell their phones exclusively online and market them using primarily social media. So, they are not sacrificing quality here! 😉
