I think it was back in 2001 when I first visited Malaysia. It was just a day trip to one of the provinces since we came from Singapore. But I can still remember the very first time I visited Kuala Lumpur. In 2011, I was invited to the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards, which was also my very first blogger event out of the country- making it even more memorable. I even posted about the awards night and the city tour in these posts: Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards Night 2011 Malaysia and Going Around Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
A few weeks ago, I attended the Tourism Malaysia – Manila event at Fairmont Hotel in Makati City. Here are some of the photos that greeted me at the entrance.
Basing from the photos, a lot has changed since I last visited the country. I’m actually hoping to go back soon, especially because I want to see Legoland! Yes, it’s the kid in me! Haha!
The program started with a special performance to give the audience a taste of Malaysia’s culture. His Honorable Dato’ Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, was also present to invite travel agents, airline companies, and the press to promote Malaysia’s tourism.
In line with the Year of Festivals 2015, with the theme, “Endless Celebrations”, they also launched a new campaign called BFF or Be Friends Forever. The three letters effectively mirror the bonds that were built, the fun and adventure shared, and the lasting memories that have been created from traveling with best friends.
For this new campaign, Tourism Malaysia would like to position itself as a best friend who is looking out for their visitors, who wants them to have fun, who caters well to their needs, and helps create the best memories during your travels. The campaign would also like to remind everyone that Malaysia is a destination of choice for families and friends who are looking for a very enjoyable vacation. This special campaign is actually inspired by us, Filipinos, who love to take photos and selfies. It encourages travellers who have been to Malaysia to post their favorite vacation photos on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #MyBFFxoxo, which also qualifies them to win special monthly prizes from Tourism Malaysia, as well as the grand prize for the promotion – a three days/two nights stay in Malaysia accompanied by his or her best friend (or family member). Now, that’s exciting, isn’t it?! 😀
So, if you’ve been to Malaysia or plan to visit soon, don’t forget to post your photos and use the hashtag #MyBFFxoxo. You might just see Malaysia again! 😀
