NARS just released its Spring 2018 Color Collection. During the launch, I had the chance to try almost everything from the collection and even learned a few makeup tips, which I’ll be sharing with you as well below. Excited? Read on…
NARS Spring 2018 Color Collection + Makeup Tutorial
The makeup artist started by cleansing my face and applying NARS Total Replenishing Eye Cream. I never skip eye cream before makeup application. I just make sure not to over apply and that the eye cream has been fully absorbed before layering makeup. This is to avoid patchy or cakey makeup later on.
She then applied Radiance Primer all over my face. NARS has 3 kinds of primer: Pore & Shine Control Primer (water-based for oily skin), Smooth & Protect Primer (silicone-based for combination skin), and Radiance Primer (for those who want glowing skin).
This is how the Radiance Primer looks when applied on skin. It has very tiny specks to make the skin appear radiant. It is great for those with dull and dry skin.
She then continued achieving that flawless base by applying the new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation (sharing my full review in my next post) and the Radiant Creamy Concealer. For reference, my foundation shade is Fiji, while my concealer shade is Creme Brulée, a shade lighter than my skin tone for a brighter under eye area. She then set everything using Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Setting Powder.
For the eyes, she applied Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, which I really need since I have oily lids. She then used the natural shades in the limited edition Narsissist eye shadow palette and the Audacious Mascara for my lashes.
Velvet Shadow Stick

And since we are already talking about eye makeup, NARS launched two limited edition shades of Velvet Shadow Stick: Frioul (shimmering light peacock) and Galice (soft pewter). These were not used on me during the demo but I really appreciate shadow sticks, especially when I’m in a hurry. I just apply it directly on the lids and use my ring finger to blend and blur any harsh lines. Shadow stick is a great option if you are looking for an easy-to-apply eye makeup.
After my eyes, the makeup artist then continued applying Laguna Bronzing Powder to contour my face.
Free Soul Highlighting Blush

For my cheeks, she used Highlighting Blush in Free Soul, which is a limited edition shade and is part of the Spring 2018 Color Collection. It is a light pink shade with soft shimmers — perfect for everyday use.
Her tip: Place your two fingers beside your nose and that’s where you should start your blush. Blend diagonally outwards.
Hot Tin Roof Liquid Blush

Another limited edition blush, which I love using these days, is this Liquid Blush in Hot Tin Roof, a shimmering brick red shade. This color is for those who like the “after-beach” glow. Tip: Liquid Blush can last longer by applying a powder blush on top. I’ll post a separate review of this.
Lip Cover

As a finishing touch, she used Lip Cover in the shade Under Arrest, a peach beige — my go-to shade for a fresh look.
For the Spring 2018 Color Collection, NARS launched 4 limited edition shades.
from left to right: Embrasse Moi (shimmering peach pink), Under Arrest (peach beige), Summer Fire (pink mauve), Hell Gate (black cherry)
And here is my final look…
So what are your favorites from NARS Spring 2018 Color Collection? My top picks would be Hot Tin Roof Liquid Blush and Free Soul Highlighting Blush.
Up next is my review of the new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation.
