From mahogany, to blonde, to dark brown, to ash, to red… my hair color story never ends. My hair has a colorful life since I was in high school. How do I manage to play with my hair all the time? Isn’t it damaging? How can I change my hair color every now and then? How can my hair handle all the harsh chemicals? These are the questions I always get from friends and readers.
WARNING: You’ll see so much photos of me in this post. Please bare with me. Hehe! 😛
I’ve been thinking of sharing my hair story, but I never got the chance. Well, I’ve started over the weekend when I posted about Things To Know Before Bleaching Your Hair. Since summer is here, I’m pretty sure some ladies would want to have that blonde or light golden brown beach hair and that post should be helpful. When Dove launched #DoveGoPlay last week, I thought this would be the perfect time to share how I manage to play with my hair all the time.
These are only some of the hair color changes I did for the past 2-3 years.
We already know the sad fact that chemical treatments (like hair coloring, bleaching, rebonding, and perming) and heat styling (such as blowdrying, curling, and straightening) can dry and damage the hair, BUT we still do it! Personally, having beautiful hair makes me feel good about myself. It makes my day. I’m more productive. Some may find that funny but great hair gives my mind and body lots of energy – as if I can conquer the world. Yes, beautiful hair can boost my confidence. This is probably the reason why when I start to get bored with my hair, I try a new color or go for a different hairstyle, like fishtail braid, rope braid, soft waves, or even just a simple side swept ponytail. And yes, I don’t mind doing all these even if they can cause damage. Why? Because beautiful hair makes me feel good about myself.
But other than these known causes of hair damage, do you know that even everyday activities, like towel drying, combing, brushing, and exposure to sun, dust and wind can also cause damage to the hair?
Dove recognizes the constant dilemma women face every day, and it offers a solution. Hold on. Let me just clarify, this is not an advertisement. Haha! I’m actually sharing what I use daily and how I manage to change my hair color every now and then. In fact, I couldn’t help but agree when I first saw the TV commercial of Dove inviting women to Go Play with their hair, while Dove takes care of the damage. It’s exactly what I do. I color, tease, twirl, tousle, or do whatever I want with my hair, but I also make sure to take care and nourish my hair everyday by using Dove Intense Repair Haircare range.
Just a little science on how Dove Hair Therapy works. It has Keratin-Actives, a patented hair care technology, that REPAIRS damaged hair and STRENGTHENS it to make it more resilient against future damage. Keratin-Actives provide superior nourishment and deeply penetrate into hair to repair it from the inside out, so hair looks and feels healthy. For us to easily understand how powerful Dove Intense Repair is, a live demo was done during the Dove Go Play launch. Two white roses were applied with shampoo solution, Brand x and Dove. Then, both roses were exposed to heat for 45 minutes using a hair dryer. Here’s the result:
Left rose, which is Brand X, withered. Right rose, which is Dove Intense Repair Shampoo, still looks healthy – as if nothing happened. Amazing, huh?! 😉
Now, let me share my secret on how I manage to play with my hair and change color every now and then. For my haircare regimen, I use Dove Intense Repair Shampoo everyday and Dove Intense Repair Conditioner every other day. For days I’m not using the conditioner, I use Dove Intense Repair Daily Treatment Conditioner or Dove Intense Repair Treatment Mask. Then after shower, I use Dove Daily Hair Vitamin every single day. I also use Dove Intense Repair 2-Step Treatment once every two weeks. If you’re wondering if I also do special hair treatments in the salon, I only do right after hair coloring.
So now, it’s time to forget all your hair disaster fears and get that beautiful hair you’ve always wanted. Go Play with your hair and let Dove take care of the damage. 😀 My strong hair is a proof. 😉
Oh, and I NEED to share this video! Haha! We had the chance to create our own flipbook during the Dove Go Play launch. Watch how cool it is!!!! 😀 😀 😀 Even my family and friends couldn’t stop flipping the book! Hahaha! Thanks again to Unilever Philippines! 😀
Dove Intense Repair haircare range is available in all leading supermarkets, drugstores, and department stores nationwide.

So pretty! I used to have red hair also pero kumupas na sya. When I saw your photo parang gusto ko na ulit. I love the shade of the 4th pic? May I know the hair color? 😀
Love lots,
Gee
????????????
Thanks Gee! Yes, of all colors, red is really my favorite. Unfortunately, it’s all the fastest color to fade. 🙁 Oh no, I’m not so sure anymore of the exact color since my hair is a mix of different colors na. But that photo was taken indoors.. if outdoors, it’s really red as seen here: http://lushangel.com/2015/01/12/pros-cons-red-hair-color/
OMG! I love red too! You look very pretty with red hair! I love the link! Hahaha! Love na kita. I was actually planning to go back to light brown but when I saw your hair. OMG.
True! Mabilis nga syang magfade. I just wish merong matagal na red hair color for us..
That was so cute po! I tried 3 hair colors before but then it doesn’t stay that long tho.I like the 4th and the 6th one po. Thanks for introducing the Dove essentials to have a beautifully colored hair 🙂
thanks krisella 🙂
Hahaha! Well, you can try sulfate-free shampoo para mas matagal yung color, although it’s more expensive. Also, you can try to shampoo every other day lang then conditioner everyday. This way mas moisturized yung hair. If you have oily hair naman, you can do this if alam mo you’ll stay home lang for the day. Hehe! The more you wash your hair kasi, mas mabilis sya magfade. 🙂
Welcome Rachel! 🙂
